Traveling with Ellen

It will be a hurry up and wait kind of day. Right now, we're in the waiting zone, as we leave in an hour for the Oslo airport.  Arrival time in London is to be 2:35 pm and we'll make our own way to the hotel. Plans are to chill today and then see the Changing of the Guard tomorrow at 11:00 am. I'm going to go to Harrod's tomorrow afternoon for some retail therapy and Wayne will hang at the hotel.  Lois dragged him there once and he's promised himself to never go back again.   It's a once in a lifetime experience and I better be wearing comfortable shoes!  There's always a cab back to the hotel if I need it.

  Nobel Peace museum  Today was a special day for me.  We spent a full day here in Oslo with a bus tour, provided by Viking that started at 10 am.  We received a nice tour on our way to our first stop, the Royal Palace and gardens. This part of the city center is called the Barcode district because the buildings, combined, look like barcodes on packages. This is just a piece of their haulocaust memorial.  Empty chairs, there were many more, to commemorate the Norwegian Jews that were deported in 1931 to the Auschwitz concentration camp. The King and Queen of Norway are in residence at the Royal Palace and while the king will shortly be retiring, he is 87 years old.  The queen is 86.
