Day 24 - Saturday, July 6, 2024 - An unexpected day at sea

Not too much to talk about today.  We were up early and in the Explorer's Lounge for our look at the White Cliffs of Dover.  It was very foggy initially and pictures were hard to take.  The diirs off the lounge onto the bow of the ship were locked due to wind.  We hung out for an hour and the weather cleared enough to actually see the cliffs.  Pictures taken, we went to breakfast where we heard the announcement that I knew was coming.  We would not be making a stop in Canterbury as seas and wind were too rough to dock.

I have an app on my phone, Cruise Mapper.  Anyone, other than Wayne can download it from your app store.  It will tell you where your ship is at all times.  I use to make sure I can tell a taxi driver where I need to return, when going ashore alone.  We used it to tell the taxi in London where to take us when we were embarking.   I knew long before breakfast and the Captain's announcement that we were long past Dover.  If winds are over 20 mph, there's a real good chance that the captain will err on caution's side.  As Wayne put it, they don't like to put anything on the side of their ship other than their own paint.

So it was a day of cribbage and watching Cornhole which the British call Baggo.  I'm up two games to one but Wayne is nice and helping me count points.

We played trivia at noon and I went to the line dance class at 2 pm.   Our score is lousy, as usual.

We'll go to the show in the theatre tonight.  The Viking singers are performing songs from Motown.  It should be fun.

Tomorrow is a PLANNED sea day as we sail the English Channel heading for Dublin on Monday.  Fingers crossed, we make the port!
