Day 8 - Monday November 27, 2023 Aquila and Condor glacier
Last night the ship did a lot of rocking and rolling, for about 2 hours. We were told it would happen. Actually it wasn't as bumpy a ride as the foul weather we sailed around Spain toward Marseille France.
I was in bed, and I knew it was heaving through some serious waves in the Pacific Ocean until we entered a more sheltered straight. I slept on and off during the turbulence. So either rough seas don't bother me or my Doctor's prescription for a patch that I placed behind my left ear really worked.
Looking forward to another day and a zodiac ride to another glacier.
This afternoon we took out the zodiacs and got a very up close look at the Condor glacier.
This truly is a beautiful area. It is pristine and when the pilot of our zodiac cut the engine, there was absolutely no noise.
We spent well over an hour at the glacier looking at how blue and craggy it is. There are as a waterfall in the glacier from melting ice.
High up the walls of the fjord were nests of cormarand birds.
Back on board, we all met for a farewell toast at 7:15. They raffled off the ship's flag and also auctioned the ships navigational chart for this trip. Proceeds went to the crew, 75 of them, who helped make this voyage happen. The winner was a gentleman from North Carolina and he paid $1,000. Definitely, he has more money than he knows what to do with it.
Everyone was invited to share pictures they taken during the past 3 days and they put it together in a slide show. Nine of mine were included.
I'm told you can view them at Australis.com. We are the 122nd voyage.
