Day 6 - Sunday February 18, 2024 - Boat ride to Great Barrier Reef
Our ship for the day
We met in the lobby at 7:30 for a short walk to the boat that would take us Michaelman's Cay and the Great Barrier Reef. It was about a 2 hour ride and a little rough. The captain called it moderate seas.
I've never felt seasick.... until today. After I rid myself of my breakfast, overboard, I felt much better.
When we arrived at the reef, they fed the fish for us just to have us see them all come up to the surface.
We were able to get into a semi submersible submarine and go under water to look at all the marine life and the coral. What an amazing experience! To see all the different fish swimming by and the different plants on the coral reef.
Our submersible sub, a little tight and somewhat claustrophobic down inside. Wayne got on first. No worries for him.
The wildlife that swam by our windows while inside the submersible submarine.
Some of the plants life on the coral reef.
Some went snorkeling and other scuba diving and others went to the cay and swam.
Tomorrow morning, Monday, we have to be in the lobby at 6:15 am for our drive to the airport and our flight to Alice Springs.
Beautiful work, I fell as if I am right beside you
ReplyDeleteGetting seasick is the worst! 😖 hope the rest of the trip was fabulous at the reef.
