Day 1 and 2, June 13-14, 2024 - Arriving in London

Looking down over London as we were landing.

We left Thursday at 7:35 pm from Phoenix and with a slight delay before takeoff, landed in London at 1:30 pm Friday afternoon. A mere 10 hour flight but an 8 hour time difference.

Our 45 minute wait for baggage paled in comparison to the two and a half hour ride to the ship which was only a total of 16 miles.  I have never seen traffic such as this and you're talking about a woman who drove the DC beltway for 4 years.  I can't imagine that some Londoners might have to commute in this kind of traffic daily. Wow. Traffic lights and roundabouts are everywhere.

We we finally arrived atthe ship at 6 pm and were greeted by Wayne's friends, Roger and Amy LeMay.  Wayne and Lois knew them for years from their summer campground hangout.  They're from Massachusetts.  After a wonderful dinner together, getting reacquainted, it was finally time to unpack.

So today's blog will be very short with only a comment that trying to fall asleep on board an airplane is impossible.  So after getting only an hour's sleep, it's early to bed.

I'm up early tomorrow, and am going by myself on a bus tour called The Classic Monuments of London to include Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Big Ben, Covent Gardens and more.

But for now, lights out.
