Day 12 - Monday, June 24, 2024- Bodo Norway
Well we had our one day of summer yesterday and it's back to raw, cold and windy today.
Our ship was delayed entering port this morning by about an hour due to a lack of pilot boats or pilots.
Our tour was supposed to leave at 11:15 but instead we left at 12:15 for a short ride to Scandinavia's largest aviation museum.
We had another round of dominos while we waited for our tour. Today I wsnt the big loser and I enjoyed watching Wayne get the old maid at least 7 of the 12 rounds.
Given the temperature of 55 degrees, clouds, intermittent drizzle and high winds, we should count our luck that we had an indoor tour. The building is shaped like a huge propeller.
There was a civil aviation wing and a military aircraft wing.
I was able to actually sit in their British Supermarine Starfighter VIII fighter plane as well as walk around and view a multitude of others.
I don't know one plan from another although Howard tried to educate me for over 40 years. He would have really enjoyed the museum today.
Pictures are below of some of the planes that drew my attention.
F102
Ambulance plane
After the bus ride back to the ship, there weren't shops or tourist traps to visit within close proximity to the ship, so instead I sit here nice and warm, having a latte and an afternoon snack.
Our raw day in Bodo, views from the ship this morning.
We disembark Friday morning at 7 am for an 8 hour train ride across Norway to Oslo. I'm looking forward to it as I understand the scenery should be beautiful.
