Day 47 - Monday, July 29, 2024 - Cooking class on board Viking Neptune at sea
A sleep-in day! Definitely needed. At 9:30 am, a cruise buddy and I attended a special French Cooking class with the Chef De.Cuisine of The Chef's Table and and Mamsens. Born in Capetown South Africa, and presently living in the Philippines when he's not on board, we spent the best 3 hours ever with Chef preparing a three course meal that we were able to enjoy ourselves.
The first thing he prepared was dessert, a Bailey's Irish Cream Chocolate Mousse as it needed time to set up.
We prepped the ingredients as Chef explained what we would be eating. While I chopped the shallots and chives, my friend Renata chopped the tomatoes and juices and zested lemons. Others chopped onions, leeks (lots of leeks), celery. Others crumbled chorizo and goat cheese for the salsa topping on the filet.
The next course prepared was filet mignon with a chorizo tomato salsa on top and a leek fondue on which the beef sat.
And our final course was the Baileys Chocolate Mousse.
With lots of wine before, during and after, it was a wonderful class.
We received a short tour of the valley and saw some of the kitchen areas that Wayne and I had seen on the Behind The scenes tour taken earlier during this cruise.
Yes I have the recipes and ingredients to share!
Dinner tonight, who needs dinner!!!! is at the Italian restaurant on board, Manfredi's. Diet begins again Friday in Mesa!
Tomorrow we dock at Mariehamm in the Alland Islands, under the rule of Finland, another new country.
amazing I look forward to the full meal deal Ellen lol
