Day 8 - Sunday January 25, 2026 - Malta, Our Second Day
Not much in the way of pictures today. I skipped the free tour today as I had done most of it yesterday and a lot more. Instead, Wayne and I went shopping on our own by walking into town, (7,100 steps). We were able to avoid all the hill climbing from the port into town by taking the lift (elevator) in the picture above. We wandered around the shops but not all were open in this very Catholic country.
Still, we both managed to spend some money. And, we enjoyed just being on our own.
We had to be back on board at noon and the ship sailed away from Valletta Malta before 1 pm.
We had lunch on board and four rounds of cribbage this afternoon. I was even for today!
The captain moved up the departure time by two hours to beat some high winds. We’re rocking and rolling a bit but not like the previous day. From the ship’s voyage map, we’re halfway to our next location Tunis, in Tunisia, our first stop in North Africa.
I chose an excursion tomorrow for another long day, 9 hours. However tired I will be when I get back to the shop, I will have seen a lot. And Tuesday is a sea day so I can rest as we head for Algiers. We’re expecting some rain tomorrow so I may be in for a long day.
