Monday, January 19, 2026 – Barcelona Spain boarding the ship

We slept on and off from about 7:30 PM last night through about 4:30 AM this morning. Breakfast at the hotel started at 7:30 and it was a very nice buffet.   Overall, the hotel treated us great and allowed us to get into our room yesterday morning at 10 AM and we certainly needed a little bit of rest yesterday having flown almost 19 hours.

This morning we took a taxi from the hotel at 10 AM and were able to get through the shipboard processing in just a few minutes. We were in our room before 11 AM and our bags were brought up promptly.  We were all unpacked and ready for lunch shortly after noon.

The room is really nice with a separate living room space with sofa, chair and dresser and a lovely deck. The bathroom also has two sinks and a 5 foot shower.  There’s a lot more room than the previous state rooms we’ve been in.

Today will be a day of rest and wandering around the ship looking for the differences as this is a newer slightly larger ship.  The previous ocean ships we’ve been on held 930 guests and this one holds 998.  We’ve found some differences in the restaurant and today as everyone was onboarding and waiting for their rooms, it was really crowded.  Everyone will soon settle in and things will quiet down.

We sail this evening for Marseille and my first excursion is 9 am tomorrow morning.
